Conference on data science for societal challenges

On November 22, ScienceWorks organizes a 1-day conference in The Hague on the responsible application of data and data science by academia, government and business. The program kicks off with keynotes from Prof. dr. Maarten de Rijke (director Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence), Nal Kalchbrenner (Google Brain Amsterdam) Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt (co-founder Open Data Institute). After that, various panel sessions and dicussions follow with various experts from universities, business and the government.

There is involvement from various organizations from the ePLAN community (e.g., Leiden Centre of Data Science, Utrecht Applied Data Science, Amsterdam Data Science, eScience Center). There is a 50 euro discount for the registration if you are affiliated with one of the organizations of the ePLAN community.

Workshop: EOSC in Progress

On September 20, 2018, eosc_imageePLAN organizes a workshop at the Amsterdam Science Park to discuss the status of the European Open Science Cloud, as well as related developments, such as FAIR and open science.The workshop kicks off with short presentations about the European projects EOSC-hub, EOSCpilot, the National Platform Open Science and FAIR. Workshop on research software licences (in Dutch)

On June 23 1017, ePLAN organizes a workshop on the issues surrounding choosing the right licences for research software. The workshop (in Dutch) is targeted at all people that are actively involved in or responsible for choosing licences. A keynote will be delivered by Arnoud Engelfriet, a renowned legal expert in the areas of software licensing, intellectual property law and open source software. ePLAN report on the European Open Science Cloud

‘The cloud’ is one of the hottest tech topics of our time. It’s therefore no surprise that European Commission has also jumped on the bandwagon. Big time! Last year, the European Commission launched the outline of a multi-year and multi-billion Euro plan for the development and implementation of a European Open Science Cloud.
